Abstract (EN)

In this study, it is aimed to determine the awareness of 8th grade students towards sustainable living and to examine them according to different variables. The descriptive survey model, which is among quantitative research methods, was used in the study. In the study, the 'Awareness Scale for Sustainable Living' for secondary school students consisting of a total of 20 items in 3-dimensional 3-point Likert type developed by Akgül and Aydoğdu (2020) was used as a data collection tool. The sample of the study consists of 980 8th grade students, 503 girls and 477 boys, who continue their education in a total of 31 secondary schools located in the Central Anatolia region in the 2021-2022 academic year and determined by convenience sampling method. IBM-SPSS 22 programme was used to analyse the data obtained from the study. In the study, it was determined that the awareness levels of female students were higher than male students, and the awareness levels of students living in the district centre were higher than those of students living in villages and towns. In cases where the education level of the mother and father was low, the awareness levels of the students were also found to be low. It was determined that students with high grades in the first semester science course report card had higher levels of awareness about sustainable life, while students with low grades had lower levels of awareness about sustainable life.
