Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to reveal the opinions of mathematics teachers about the mathematics questions of the The High School Transition System (LGS) which was implemented for the first time in the 2017-2018 academic year. Qualitative research method was used in this study. The research was carried out with the phenomenology method. The study group of the research consists of 70 Mathematics teachers, including 38 women and 32 men, working in the Province of Ağrı. The findings of the study showed that the problems that raised during the (LGS) preparation period are in three parts as teacher, student and system. The results show that some of teachers who have not changed their teaching methods. These teachers point out that the curriculum is too intensive, therefore, they are not able to solve the next generation of questions, since the teaching of subjects cannot be completed on time. The other reason is that the students' level of preparation is not sufficient. Teachers also said that they could not motivate their students to take the LGS exam and could not complete the subjects on time. Therefore, they also stated that they themselves had some share in the failure of the LGS in part. Findings of the study showed that the textbook is very inadequate in terms of content and new generation questions according to the new examination system. Teachers have mostly stated that the students are biased against the mathematics lesson and that they have difficulty understanding the new generation questions asked in the LGS system as a result of this. In addition, teachers think that the the application period of the LGS exam is short and the questions are very long according to the time given. In addition, although the secondary school is 4 years old, the new generation question style implementing only eight grade. The fact that the students' readiness levels are missing for the new generation questions has also been mentioned as a system-related problem.
