Study of the relation between peer bullyi̇ng and school alienation among secondary school students

This research has been carried out to analyse whether there is a significant difference between the levels of exposure to peer bullying and the perception of school alienation among secondary school students. The sampling of the research has been constituted by application of stratified sampling and random sampling methods on a total number of 400 students (193 female, 207 male) attending to the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grades in 3 secondary schools located in Seyhan, Çukurova, and Yüreğir towns of Adana Province.'School Alienation Scale'' and ''Peer Bullying Scale'' have been utilised in order to assess the relation level between peer bullying and school alienation among the students participating in the research. In the analysis of the data so obtained. In the statistical analyses, SPSS 22.0 packaged software was used. The study reveals the fact that as the level of peer bullying goes higher, the perception level of school alienation scales up likewise. It has been observed that students becoming subject to low-level peer bullying suffer school alienation at lower levels while students becoming subject to high-level peer bullying suffer highest levels of school alienation. It has also been deduced that the variables of gender and age of the students do not have a significant impact on the perception levels of school alienation.
