Examination of the environmental sensitivity of secondary school students within the framework of different variables

In the study, it was aimed to determine the environmental sensitivity levels of secondary school students and to examine the differentiation of students' environmental sensitivity according to various variables. For the purpose of the research, descriptive survey model was used in the research. The population of the research consists of 801 students in total who continue their education at the 5th, 6th and 7th grade levels in Ortaköy district of Aksaray. In the research 370 students from the 5 6 and 7 grades of the two secondary schools selected to continue their education in the Ortaköy district of Aksaray were determined as the sample of the research.Convenience sampling method was used to reach the sample size in the study. Questionnaire form was used for data collection in the research. Face-to-face data collection technique was used in the study. In the study, "Environmental Sensitivity Scale" was used to determine the environmental awareness levels of the students. SPSS 20 statistical program was used to analyze the data of the research. The distribution of the introductory characteristics of the secondary school students included in the study was expressed with frequency and percentage. The mean and standard deviation were used as the descriptive statistics of secondary school students' scores on the Environmental Sensitivity Scale and its sub-dimensions. The differentiation status of the scores of the students from the scale and its sub-dimensions according to their descriptive characteristics were examined with t-test for independent samples and one-way analysis of variance. The data of the research were analyzed at 95% confidence level. As a result, it has been determined that secondary school students' knowledge levels on environmental protection, actions towards environmental protection, awareness levels on environmental protection and attitudes towards environmental protection are high.
