Özet (EN)
Language is the most basic communication tool that enables an individual to express his/her emotions, thoughts and wishes. Speaking, which is one of the four basic language skills, is of great importance in terms of an individual's ability to express himself/herself in social life and to communicate effectively. Writing, on the other hand, is an active skill that is always used in daily life from school age on. Therefore, speaking and writing skills are the main topics examined in this study. The main purpose of this research is to determine the relationship between middle school students' impromptu speaking skills and creative writing skills. In line with this aim, the effect of students' performance in oral expression processes on their creative production skills in written expression is examined; and it is attempted to reveal whether there is a significant relationship between the two skill types. The problem statement of the study is: "Is there a significant relationship between middle school students' impromptu speaking skills and creative writing skills?"" is the question. The research group was determined by volunteering from students studying in middle school. The data obtained in the study were evaluated with the "Creative Writing Evaluation Criteria Form (YİDÖF)" and the "Impromptu Speech Scale". The collected quantitative data were analyzed according to the correlational research method. According to the research results, there is a significant, strong, multi-layered relationship between middle school students' impromptu speaking skills and creative writing skills, and this relationship can be evaluated both theoretically and practically in the context of Turkish education. In this context, it is suggested that more diverse activities be implemented in Turkish lessons to develop narrative skills.
