Abstract (EN)

A Research On The Pronunciation Mistakes Of Secondary School Students. Speaking is one of the most effective and practical and the fastest ways in human comminication. An effective comminication is compulsary for being successful and also an effective and fluent speaking is necessary for aneffective communication. In this study, the pronuncition mistakes of secondary school students during an unprepared spech are examined. In this study the speech of the 25 students, randomly chosen among 7th grade students, who study in a public scholl in Domaniç, Kütahya, is examined and the results are the variation of the pronuncition mistakes, duration of the unprepared speech and their ratio regarding the students' gender. In this research descriptive survey model is used. Datas are collected with the help of semi-structured observation technique and recordings and speech observation forms are benefited while collecting the datas. The topics of the students' speech which is supposed to be unprepared are formed by both the golas and the learning outcomes of the Turkish lesson curriculm and the themes in the Turkish lesson course books at the end 44 topics are decided and these topics are asked for expert opinion and 20 speech topics that are best for the students are determined. At the end of the research the pronuncition mistakes of the students are identified. During their speech it is observed that all students used local dialect. Furthermore, skipping (%64), slurring (%52), unnecessary word using (%52), errors in emphasis and intantion (%36) are also observed. The most fruquently observed resulting from use of local are the wrong use of plural suffix (%95), saying hard consonant as soft (%95) and the present continous tense suffix (%85). In terms of speech duration , boys talked 8 seconds longer than the girls and girls are %5 percent more successful than boys regarding pronuncition mistakes.
