The relationship between motivation and job satisfaction levels of secondary school teachers

In this study it is aimed that the find relationship between teachers' -who are on duty in Aydın's Efeler town- motivation level and job satisfaction. The universe of this study is teachers who work in Aydın province during 2013-2014 education year. And the sample of this study is 342 teachers who were detected by stratified sampling method. Personal Information Form, Job Satisfaction Scale and Motivation Scales were used by collecting data. In order to test significant difference of job satisfaction and motivation according to gender of teachers, independent samples t-test was used. Also one way variance analyze (ANOVA) was used in order to find statistical relationship between the job satisfaction, motivation and teachers' department, age, seniority, graduation type, school size, school type. And also Scheffe test was used to detect in-group significant difference source. Pearson moment's correlation method was used to determine relationship between motivation and job satisfaction. The meaningful level of statistic is .05. Results of research showed that teachers' organizational-administrational motivation level is higher than economic and psycho-social motivation level. Also inner satisfaction level is higher than external satisfaction. According to demographic variables female teachers' organizational-administrational motivation level is higher than male teachers. Teachers whose teaching department is mostly consist verbal lessons have higher inner and general satisfaction level than quantitative department teachers. There is a positive correlation between teachers' motivation level and job satisfaction. The psycho-social motivation level and inner satisfaction have the highest rank.
