Abstract (EN)

The overall objective of this study is to investigate opinions of administrators, teachers and students regarding the effectiveness of social club activities in secondary schools in a theoretical and experimental manner. This research was designed with screening model. The literature on research topic was reviewed and a theoretical basis was established. A questionnaire was developed to be applied to teachers and students in secondary schools. The interview method was used in order to get the opinions of the administrators about the social clubs. The study population consisted of the administrators, teachers and students in the secondary schools in the Palandöken district of the province of Erzurum, Turkey; and, the sample consisted of 389 eighth graders, 4 administrators and 72 teachers working 4 secondary schools with different socioeconomic levels. Data were analyzed using the SPSS 20 software. According to the results obtained, there were no statistically significant differences in teachers' opinions on effectiveness of social club activities in terms of the variables of age, gender, occupational seniority, type of faculty, year of social clubbing, number of different social clubs, and duty years in the school. There were also no statistically significant differences in students' opinions regarding the effectiveness of social club activities, in terms of the analyzed variables of gender, parental education level, maternal education level, and number of different social clubs attended. And finally, there were no statistically significant differences in the opinions of administrators regarding the effectiveness of social club activities in terms of the variables of gender, age, occupational seniority and managerial years examined.
