Abstract (EN)
Ottoman Empire getting the whip hand of militarily to lots of states for centuries executed plenty conquests thanks to the well-rounded excursions they launched. One of the significant reasons underlying to be accomplished at the excursions Ottoman Empire launched is delicately planned excursion organization and supplying military logistics (ammunition, subsistence and fulfillment) completely. Ottoman Empire deploying to three continents and seven regions had to move swiftly among long distances at the excursion times. Therefore, they dispatched their needs such as military ammunition and subsistence to front line by sea and overland. When they carried out shipping overland, they made use of the animal force being the most substantial means of transport those days. In this regard, shipping of all kinds of logistics and supply of provisions like military ammunition, subsistence and fulfillment was provided with horses, camels, oxen, buffaloes, mules and vehicles hitched these animals. Ottoman Empire taking advantage of different kinds of animals within the scope of excursion organizations also utilized animals such as sheep, goats, lambs, cattle, and chickens with intent to meet soldiers' meat needs. In this study, recruitment of draught animals and mount animals being the most important factor to ensure transportation and shipping at the excursion organizations of Ottoman Empire, their management and for what purpose they used are researched. Furthermore, it is dwelled on buying animals used for military subsistence within the context of excursion organization and importance of othermilitary subsistence of animals. Additionally, information about getting food of animal origin to feed these animals used during excursion; providing economic resource to supply these animals and for this purpose the places animals were purchased most or they were hired is submitted in this research. Apart from these knowledge, it is also informed about other different kinds of animals considered among other excursion preparations.
