Abstract (EN)
Clothing fact is a process advancing with the history of humanity. This advance ongoing for thousand years has differed by the influence of time and atmosphere and undergone many changes until today. Every society wants to survive for long years. As societies establish the institution of marriage, which will continue their own generations, they realize some rituals by sticking their cultures in the manners they attach importance. They give its meaning of this special event by a series of traditions. The clothing of the bride getting married even differed by undergoing changes according to time and life style throughout history, it has protected its importance in every period of history. Because the marriage is accepted as one of the most important turning points in a woman's life, maybe the most important one. It is inevitable that the dress, which will be used in such transitional period, is being got important in parallel to the seriousness of the situation. The cloths, which will be worn on wedding day, is a subject what mostly women overstresses. Wedding cloths, which are sewn by being taken its every detail into consideration mostly many days before, are prepared to be worn in wedding ceremony and others. How wedding wear advanced from the beginning until today within the value given to woman in Turkish culture is the main theme of the research. The roots of traditions applied by Anatolian people and their reflections to our day have been researched. The samples of wedding gowns and evening dresses have been examined by being started from this point of view and knowledge has been compiled from different sources like printed books, articles and photo albums. Finally, it has been tried to achieve the wedding and ritual dresses' following route by moving in a circular process within the periods spent by societies and fashion concept. As a result of acquired knowledge, some of the facts belonging to Turkish culture or their continuations still goes on in spite of all negativities. Protection of these facts belonging to Turkish culture, what we have, and their transferring to the future regularly are important in terms of its being started to be forgotten, its being left or being neglected them.
