Abstract (EN)

The city of Jerusalem, considered to be sacred by Muslims, Christians, and Jews, has an ancient history dating back to 4000 BC. The domination of the states of these religions in Jerusalem in the different periods prepared the ground the establishment of sacred places belonging to three religions in the city. Jerusalem entered the Ottoman rule in 1517 and the quality of life of the city increased with the construction activities carried out by the state. One of the breaking points for Jerusalem in this period of domination until 1917 was the process which started with the French occupation of 1798 Egypt and continued until the termination of the rebellion of Kavalalı Mehmed Ali Pasha in 1841. Jerusalem has been indirectly affected by the experiencing problems, such as Wahhabi invasion and Greek rebellion, in different parts of the state during this time period, due to the hosting the different nations together. In this study, the policies exerted in Jerusalem by Ottoman Empire between 1798-1841, political events and administrative changes that experienced, the activities of the state in its approach to Muslims, rights granted to the non-Muslims by the state, and people's contact with the state were examined.
