Analysis of value education related lecture samples prepared by education managers of late ottoman era

Value related lecture samples from 69 issues of ?Tedrisat-i İbtidaiyye? (Primary Education) journal prepared by trainers who work at Dârulmuallimîn(Grand Teacher School)for the purpose of guiding education managers and teachers about value education between February 1910 and March 1926 have been researched. Aim of the thesis is to translate to Modern Turkish and reinterpret the lecture samples related to value education prepared by education managers of Ottoman Era. This study based on information gathered through scanning literature. Value related lectures in journalprepared by Dârülmuallimîn managers have been scanned and value education related lecture samples selected among them. 27 selected lecture samples related to the thesis have been translated to Modern Turkish. Lecture samples have been analyzed and interpreted for teachers and education managers. As a result of study, following values taught in lecture samples: Studying, being useful, fellowship, not touching someone else?s property without permission, people?s dependency to each other, helping others ? Question and answer technique and finding methodhas been used in processing lecture samples. Teacher taught through different ways such as painting and story telling. Student was at the center and teacher was always a guide using question and answer method. Teacher suggested students to think on values, get inspired from good attitude, keep away from unfavourable behaviours either by directly explaining or as a conversation with them.
