The effect of seismic insulation in parking areas on the dynamic performance of buildings

This research consists of seven chapters. The aim, significance and method of the research are emphasized in the first part. The second part includes previous related literature on the topic in this research. In the third part, the conceptual framework of notions such as earthquake, earthquake resistance, seismic activity, ductility, rigidity, seismic isolation and parking is given. In the fourth part, the earthquake performances of normal structures and structures with seismic isolators are compared and in addition to the examination of seismic isolated structures in Turkey and in the World, the characteristics of the system, its classification, earthquake resistance criteria and the conditions of the Regulation are mentioned. Parking lots are mentioned and the behaviors, designs and earthquake resistance of the Building Elements are analyzed in the fifth part. In the sixth part, the newly enacted 2018 Turkish Building Earthquake Regulation was drawn and the necessary isolators were added in the SAP2000 computer program for the 5-storey car park, which was carried out in this study. Vehicle occupancy rates of the parking lot which were analyzed by adding an insulator were compared. In the seventh part, the results and recommendations are listed.
