The effects of changes in the banking system on bank management and organization during the pandemic period

The Covid-19 pandemic has created an unprecedented crisis in terms of scale and social, economic and environmental consequences. The consequences of this crisis in the most affected countries are diverse and of unprecedented severity for many organisations. In addition to its humanitarian impact, particularly victims with severe symptoms and overloaded health care, restraint policies and cessation of economic activity in most industrialized countries, the severity is often incomparable to previous crises. In addition, the pandemic has created an endemic state of uncertainty and confusion about risks to employees, measures and best practices that organizations should adopt, stakeholder pressures, government shutdowns and lockdowns, and the potential for a new wave. Managing these uncertainties is even more difficult for organizations. This is because there is little in-depth study on the subject and available information is scarce, partial and contradictory. The banking sector is among the sectors most affected by the epidemic. In the process, it has become a necessity for the banking sector, which has not stopped its activities in any way with the pandemic, to make changes in terms of management. This situation is also reflected in the policies implemented by the management level. In this study, the changes in the administrative processes in the banking sector during the pandemic period were examined with qualitative analysis techniques. Within the scope of the research, interviews were conducted with 17 of 22 administrators in Erzurum, Erzincan, Ağrı, Kars, Iğdır, Ardahan and Bayburt provinces. The findings show that the pandemic is effective in the banking sector.
