Abstract (EN)

In this thesis study, the behavior of reinforced concrete buildings under explosion and determination of possible damages are aimed. In the first chapter previous studies on the subject, burst phenomenon, explosives, shock wave, blast load effects, blast load classification, CONWEP method, behavior of concrete, plasticity theory, continuous damage mechanics and CDP (Concrete Damaged Plasticity) model are explained. In the second chapter, studies are presented. In order to realize the methods we used, the experiment which made by Alañón et al in 2018 upon concrete slab is modeled in ABAQUS program. When using CONWEP method based on blast load Kingry and Bulmash method, CDP model was used to model concrete. In the third chapter first, the damage results from the analysis compared the actual experiment. It is obtained that modeling represents reality. The behavior of a selected reinforced concrete building under the explosion effects was examined on the finite element model created in ABAQUS program. Firstly, the effect of finite element mesh size on the analysis results was determined, then the behavior of the reinforced concrete building under explosion effect was analyzed for a total of 9 explosion scenarios created at different heights, explosive wheight and distances from the building. Evaluations were made by looking at the distribution of damage and energy outputs.
