Patnos district dialect features

This study conducted fieldwork by visiting villages and neighborhoods with local residents living in the Patnos district. The aim was to identify the variations and differences in Turkish from the standard language in the daily usage of this district, where no other studies exist. The study consists of the Introduction, Conceptual Framework, Materials and Methods, Research Findings, and Conclusion sections. The Introduction section focuses on the origin of the name Patnos, its history, structural and demographic development, and its geography. The Conceptual Framework section includes the definition of the term "dialect," information on dialect studies conducted worldwide and in Türkiye, dialect studies conducted in Eastern Anatolia, and the classification of Eastern Anatolian dialects. The analysis section is then conducted, and based on the data presented in the study, the phonetics, morphology, syntax, and vocabulary criteria in the Patnos district dialects are classified through examples of words. The Conclusion section provides a general evaluation of the study, and the findings are presented in this section. The data collected in the Patnos district, where no previous master's or doctoral studies have been conducted, was collected from source individuals through field research, with target words recorded immediately in a guidebook. Finally, the meanings of various vocabularies actively used in the region are included in our thesis. Keywords: Patnos, Patnos dialect, phonology, morphology, syntax, vocabulary.
