Abstract (EN)

The retailer organizations that took their present shape by developing through 20th century are trying to survive in a hard and rapidly changing environment which has threats as well as opportunities. Consumers encounter many products differing in variety, quality and price and prefer the most appropriate ones for them. However retailers have to survive and increase their sale shares and preference rates compared to their competitors. This situation led to offer products carrying their own brands in order to increase chain store dependence which was created by retailers and to maximize their profits. It is accepted that brand is very important for reaching out and being close to consumer or getting consumer to feel close. At this point brands affect consumers' purchase processes and preferences, and can minimize the perceived risk to sub-dimensions by securing guarantees for products. This is valid for retailer brand products as well. The main purpose of this study is to explore the effects of retailer brand products' brand equity on risk perception and on purchase intention; and the possible effects of this risk perception on purchase intention. Through the purpose of this research the quantitative data obtained from a sample of 400 people have been analyzed. As results of this research it is determined that the dimensions forming brand equity affect the purchase intention and the perceived risk; and some demographic features can be distinctive in perceived risk and purchase intention.
