Abstract (EN)
Shear walls are of great importance in terms of their behaviour under earthquakes. The shear walls, which greatly compensate the lateral loads of the earthquakes on the structure, allow the structure to exhibit a more rigid behaviour. However, due to architectural requirements or uncontrolled architectural changes, the openings can be created in shear walls. The dimensions of these gaps can affect the behaviour of the curtain wall entirely. Shear walls, which are expected to give rigidity to the structure, are behaving in exactly the opposite due to the openings on them and can cause short column formation and can lead up to sudden failures in the structure. The purpose of this study is to investigate the changes in the parameters of the shear walls and the openings left on them, on the curtain wall behaviour. For this purpose, a number of parameters have been defined to examine the effects on behavioural change. Sufficient number and range of values have been selected for each parameter. Depending on these parameters, 29 different frame models have been determined. In order to examine these models in detail, a C # software was developed and the draft model is coded. Models created by the software were transferred to SAP2000 and analysed through OAPI. For each frame, the opening width was analysed by 1 cm increments between the possible minimum size and the maximum size. Based on these analyses, the behavioural change in the possible regions where short columns are formed for each frame has been examined based on shear forces, displacements and moment values. In this context, a total of 5200 analyses has been performed.
