Abstract (EN)

The our country have resulted in great number live last and huge amount of damages in construction. This lost are taken into consideration, the aim of earthquake engineering is to prevent the lost of lives by decreasing the damages in constructions. For this purpose, earthquake resistance of buildings should be defined with performance analysis. Two types of analysis methods are used for defining the earthquake performance by using linear and nonlinear analysis. In The linear analysis method which is force based analysis, deflections are assumed to be small and material behavior is lineer. Beside, in the nonlinear analysis, material and geometric nonlinearity should be taken into consideration. Nonlinear analysis methods are more complicated when it is compared with linear analysis methods. Since nonlinear behaviors of structural mambers must be included to the analysis based on some assumptions. On the performance analysis, linear analysis method are generally prefared. Recent developments nonlinear analysis methods become more attractive and easy to use. In the context of this thesis, a comparative study based on "Equivalent seismic load method" as linear analysis method and "Incremental Equivalent Seismic Load Method" as nonlinear analysis method are performed for two-story and six-story x reinforced concrete buildings with and without shear walls construction and then the results obtained from these analysis are evaluated. This thesis which comprise 8 chapters in the first chapter, the aim of the study, context and previous studies are given. In chapter 2, a brief summary is given about performance analysis concept. In chapter 3, sources of nonlinear behaviors caused by material and geometry is mentioned. In chapter 4, the characteristics of shear wall are mentioned and a detailed information is given about both linear and nonlinear analysis methods. In chapter 5, a detailed study is performed on single-span in x/y axis and two story simple construction based on "Equivalent seismic load method" as linear analysis Methods and "Incremental Equivalent Seismic Load Method" as nonlinear analysis method. The analysis steps are given in detailed. In chapter 6, a two story building with and without shear walls is designed and examined based on "Equivalent seismic load method" In chapter 7, a six story frame with and without shear walls and construction is designed and examined based on "Incremental Equivalent Seismic Load Method" with and without shear walls. The chapter 8, includes the result of this study. In this chapter, all the outcomes of this study is discussed
