Abstract (EN)
Objective: The relationship between recently discovered hormones 'asprosin, adropin and irisin" and obesity and metabolic conditions and that the periodontal diseases are bilaterally affected by obesity and diet lead us to investigate the relationship of the targeted markers and periodontal diseases. The first and main purpose of this study is to increase the limited knowledge, a result of sufficient studies of these hormones for dentistry and periodontology have not been performed yet, and dominate the future research. Method: Our study was performed on 122 patients who applied to Adiyaman University Faculty of Dentistry and oriented to the Department of Periodontology for routing periodontal control. The participants' gender, height, weight, BMI, education status, habit of brushing and flossing and clinic parameters, PI, GI, SCD, KAS and SKY were recorded. Grouping of the participants, classified into four groups of normal, gingivitis, initial and advanced periodontitis, was done basing on the periodontal classification guide, 2017. DOS was collected to be investigated and 'asprosin, adropin and irisin' levels in the samples was evaluated with ELISA test. Results: Periodontal clinical parameters were measured and asprosin, adropin and irisin levels were measured between the groups. Clinical parameters were significantly differed (p<.001), and all clinical parameters were measured increased in the advanced periodontitis group. Asprosin level caused a significant difference between the groups (p<.001) and increased more from the control to the advanced periodontitis group. Adropin (p=.208) and irisin (p=.131) levels have not caused significant changes between groups. Conclusion: To the results of the study, asprosin level is associated with periodontal status independently of excess weight. Keywords: Adropin, asprosin, irisin, periodontal conditions, classification
