The perspective of Sadrettin Celal Antel about education

Sadrettin Celal Antel, who lived between the years 1890-1954, has been an important name in the history of education in the Turkish education system. The period of Antel's life is within the Second Constitutional Monarchy and Early Republican period. These periods are of great importance because they were periods of social, economic and educational reform in the country. Analysing the existence of opinions and suggestions about education between the Constitutional Monarchy II and the Early Republic periods and the existence of practices in this direction is essential for the evaluation of today's education system. In this study titled ''Education Views'' of Sadrettin Celal Antel, it is examined what Antel's education views are and whether they have an impact on the education programmes implemented in our country in certain dates or whether they find a place in the education programmes. Accordingly, the main purpose of this study is to understand Sadrettin Celal Antel's educational views and to examine whether they have an impact on the educational programmes implemented in Turkey. In order to reach this aim, Antel's works and written and printed works related to Antel were analysed. In the study, document analysis and literature review techniques, which are qualitative research methods, were used. Antel's books titled Lenin and Lenizm, Cumhuriyet Çocuklarına Sevimli Kıraat, Bizim Alfabe, Yeni Terbiye ve Tedris Tekniği, Test Usulü, Maarifimiz ve Meseleleri, Terbiye'de Ölçü were analysed. In addition, articles and theses written about Sadrettin Celal Antel were also analysed. These sources were evaluated within the framework of the 1924, 1926, 1936 and 1948 education programmes. As a result of the examined programmes, it has been determined that Antel adopted the principle of learning by doing and experiencing, addressed this with the concepts of 'activity school, project school, functional school', that rationalisation in education is important in every education period, and that he frequently emphasised the point of 'arrangement of the market' and 'concentration of educational institutions' in order to respond to the demands and needs of the period, and that these emphases should be taken into consideration when creating educational programmes.
