Importance automatic irrigation in landscape applicatipons and investigation of its implementation with the case of Ankara city

Water is one of the most important source of life. Human beings need water directly or indirectly in order to survive. Natural precipitation is the first source of water needed for usual growth of plants at parks and garden; and water is needed in soil during growth season. However, at arid and semi-arid climatic regions, precipitation is inadequate in both terms of the amount and the distribution. Therefore, usual water need cannot be provided by precipitation. Hence, irrigation water is gained in landscaping for growth of plants. That is the case where natural precipitation is not sufficient for needed water.In this study; the climate of the area, soil features and approximate consumption of the water to use plant material used in the project are aimed to be defined in order to plan the irrigation system in the case area. Therefore, in the study; primarily, information about irrigation systems and their equipments have been given then pressurized irrigation methods and their planning used in the landscape areas have been investigated in detail. In the case area, Ankara City changing form and amount in the irrigation applications with respect to different areas, its comparison results and selection criteria defined by analyzing; design, construction, operation and maintenance methods of irrigation systems in different areas described by investigating different irrigation methods, systems and techniques for different landscape applications. In conclusion, irrigation techniques have been varied for each landscape usage, design and plan and have also seen that the elements in the lanscape areas and geographical features was affected on the selections of irrigation systems in different ratios.
