Investigation of optoelectronic properties of pyrene-based organic light emitting diodes (OLED)

Abstract (EN)

This thesis focuses on characterizing and enhancing the properties of OLED product produced with N-(2-((pyrene-4-yl)methylamino)ethyl)-5-nitropyridine-2-amine molecule from pyrene group which is a PAH group compound formed by the combination of four synthesized benzene organic compounds. In the first stage of this study, 2-(2-aminoethylamine)-5-nitropyridine and 1-pyrenecarboxaldehyde were for the first time in the presence of THF/MeOH in order to synthesize N-(2-((pyrene-4-yl)methylamino)ethyl)-5-nitropyridine-2-amine in 50.8% yield. The structure of the compound was elucidated using NMR techniques. Also, the photoluminescence and absorption data of the organic compound were analyzed. Experimental HOMO-LUMO band energy gaps were determined from the absorption spectra obtained. In the second stage of the study, the OLED scheme was determined and the ITO / PEDOT:PSS (40 nm) / CuPc (50 nm) / NPB (40 nm) / Pyrene with nitropyridyl function (30 nm) / Alq3 (30 nm) / LiF (0,5 nm) / Al layers were coated by PEDOT:PSS, CuPc, NPB, Pyrene with nitropyridyl function, Alq3 spin coating and LiF, Al thermal evaporation methods, respectively. Finally, the electroluminescence and current-voltage characteristics of the produced OLED were obtained and the region where the device emitted and illumination coordinates, CIE (x,y) were determined. We determined that the produced pyrene based OLED emits in the blue region and has a high current density. Keywords: OLED, Pyrene, Electroluminescence.
