Abstract (EN)
Plungers are used in installations to control the fluids parameters such as pressure, flow, level, temperature are commonly used as regulating valve, protection valve and bleeder valve in water transmission lines, dams and drain channels. In this work, flow in a DN 600 Plunger system was conducted numerically. Firstly input pressure was set to 16 bar, outlet pressure was set to 8 bar for throttle position 1, position 2 and position 3 which simulate Plunger valve movement. After that for the valve position 3 input pressure was set to 20 bar, outlet pressure was set to 1 bar input values. With these parameter given flow parameters and cavity formation areas were determined using Ansys CFX 12 HAD simulation program using finite volume method. From these parametric studies it is found that cavitation areas were formed on valve outlet holes and the areas nearby the holes. The results were given and discussed in Tables and graphically.
