Electrochemical synthesis and characterization of Polycarbazole/Chitosan conductive composites

Abstract (EN)

In this work, polycarbazole/chitosan composites were synthesized in lithium perchlorate/acetonitrile medium by cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry techniques. Optimum conditions were determined after conducting experiments with different carbazole (monomer) concentrations and electrolysis conditions. 0,05 M carbazole concentration and 15 min. time were established for the optimum conditions. Characterisation of the polycarbazole/chitosan composites were performed using FT-IR, EIS, TGA, SEM and cyclic voltammetry techniques. Mass losses in the polymer and composite were detected with thermogravimetric analysis and an increase was observed in the thermal stability with the incresing amount of chitosan in the composite. In addition, morphological changes on the polymer and composite were studied with SEM. In conducted spectroscopic and electrochemical measurements, it was determined that the conductivity is directly proportional to the monomer concentration and the amount of chitosan in the structure.
