Abstract (EN)

With the addition of sawdust, wood dust, and fiber-form products acquired as by-products of processing wood to the plastic structure using methods suitable for the polymer structure, a product category known as Wood Polymer Composites (WPC) emerges. When compared to the performance of each of the polymer and wood separately, WPCs shows much superior properties. WPCs, on the other hand, are an environmentally benign product due to their lightness, low cost, and ability to recycle waste materials due to their low density. In the 1980s, WPCs began to be popularized and used in the United States. WPCs, which have been utilized in applications like as fences, poolside flooring, patio and garden furniture since their commercialization, have improved the comparatively weak durability features of products made of wood over time. However, because they are made from waste materials, they have gained prominence for their environmentalist qualities. The use of WPCs as furniture edge bands was investigated in this study, as well as their appropriateness or capacity to meet the needs. The conditions in the production processes of WPCs obtained by adding various types and shapes of wood-based fillers to the plastic's structure, as well as priority properties for furniture edge bands such as color, adhesion forces, and surface scratch resistance, were investigated in terms of density values, thermal properties, and cost. The findings were given in terms of production suitability and applicability.
