Abstract (EN)

Premature ejaculation is the most common sexual dysfunction in men and associated with comorbid conditions, such as diabetes, thyroid disease, prostatitis and erectile dysfunction. However, there is controversy concerning the relationship of PE with ED. There is little data about the existence of these two pathologies with each other. The aim of this study is to determine frequency and severity of erectile dysfunction in patients with premature ejaculation. A total of 111 men aged 24–66 years who admitted to urology outpatient clinics with the complaint of premature ejaculation were included in this study. PE and ED were evaluated using the Turkish version of premature ejaculatory diagnostic tool (PEDT), and the Turkish version of International Index of Erectile Function questionnaire (IIEF). In statistically analysis, pearson chi-square and correlation analysis were used. Statistical tests were performed by using the SPSS21.0 statistical package and significance was defined as p<0.05. The mean age of the study group was 43,6±11,8 years, and the mean PEDT and IIEF was 12,7±4,3 and 18,5±5,2 respectively. ED was found in 105 (94,6%) of patients with PE. There was no significant difference between PEDT and IIEF scores (p=0,199). Prostatic inflammation was found in 62,2% of all patients. No significant difference was found between prostatic inflammation and PEDT groups (p=0.585). And no significant association was found between PEDT scores and age (p=0.781). In conclusion, the co-occurrence of PE and ED should be carefully questioned in patients admitted to an urology outpatient clinic. Further investigation is required to confirm this co-occurrence.
