Abstract (EN)
This study, which was carried out to test the effect of father and kangaroo care on pain perception of premature babies hospitalized in the neonatal intensive care unit, was carried out in a randomized controlled experiment. The data of the study were obtained by the researcher between April 6, 2024 and June 10, 2024 from 80 preterm infants and fathers who applied to the neonatal intensive care unit of Şanlıurfa Training and Research Hospital. After 30 minutes of paternal and kangaroo care, the newborns in the intervention group were measured before, during and after the procedure, their pain was measured before, during and after the procedure, with all stages in the father's lap. In the newborns in the control group, pain was measured and recorded before, during and after the procedure in the incubator. As a result of the analysis of the data obtained from the Father and Premature Newborn Introductory Information Form, Premature Newborn Follow-up Form and Premature Baby Pain Profile; When examined according to the intervention and control groups; physiological parameters of premature newborns There was a significant difference between the intervention and control groups during and after orogastric tube (OGT) placement oxygen saturation; that there was a significant difference between the duration of orogastric tube insertion and the duration of crying; As a result of the comparison of the pain scores of premature newborns between the intervention and control groups; There was a significant difference between the pain score during the procedure; premature newborns As a result of comparison of pain levels before, during and after oragastric catheter insertion; It was determined that the pain scores during the procedure were significantly higher compared to the other two time periods, and the pain scores during the procedure were significantly higher than the pain scores before and after the procedure. As a result, it was determined that kangaroo care applied with the father was effective in reducing the pain caused during orogastric catheter placement in premature babies.
