Abstract (EN)

In this study, the genotoxic and cytotoxic effects of pyriproxyfen (PPX) were investigated in human peripheral lymphocytes in vitro. The study was carried out with blood taken from young, healthy, non-smoker, two men and two women. The chromosome abnormality and micronucleus methods were used to detect genotoxic and cytotoxic effects. Statistically significant increases were noted in all parameters studied, such as chromosomal aberration (CA) and abnormal cell (AH) percentages, and micronucleus (MN) and micronucleated binuclear cell (MNBN) frequencies in human peripheral lymphocytes treated with PPX at all concentrations and treatment times. It was determined that the increase in MN and MNBN frequencies during the treatment period was dose-related. PPX significantly decreased NBI at all doses and times. MI also decreased in cells treated with PPX, but this decrease was not statistically significant. As a result, it was determined that PPX has genotoxic and cytotoxic effects in human peripheral lymphocytes in vitro.
