Abstract (EN)

Synthetic and petroleum derived materials are widely used today. Recycling of these materials is difficult and costly. Due to environmental concerns, interest in these materials is decreasing day by day. Instead of these materials, there is a need for environmentally friendly, recyclable and easily available materials. One of these materials is natural fiber reinforced composite materials. In this study, ramie fiber reinforced plastic (RFRP) composite plates were produced and their channel milling was investigated. In the experiments where the cutting depth is kept constant; the effects of spindle speed and feed rate on milling performance were investigated. In the experiments where 2, 3 and 4 flute end mills are used as cutting tools, spindle speeds was selected as 1000, 2000, 3000 rpm and feed was selected as 0.1, 0.15 and 0.20 mm/rev. In the experiments, the effects of spindle speed, feed rate and the number of end mill flute on cutting force, cutting temperature, deformation factor and surface roughness were tried to be determined. With the increase of feed, cutting force, cutting temperature, deformation factor and surface roughness increased. Cutting force, cutting temperature and deformation factor increased and surface roughness was decreased with increasing spindle speed. In all machining parameters, the increase in the number of end mill flute positively affected the milling performance.
