Abstract (EN)

When we consider the changing and developing curricula of science teaching from past to present, the connection of science course with daily life in terms of subject content necessitates a student-centered education understanding in science teaching. In the research, it is aimed to improve the scientific process skills of middle school students by using action research method using REAPS Model and to increase their academic achievement. This study was carried out with 11 secondary school students in the course of Science by studying on unit named "Electric in Our Life". The problem situations in the REAPS model contributed to every aspect of the model. In addition to this, in order to contribute to the development of scientific process skills by providing active participation of students, experiments supported by TGA (guess-observe-explain) activities were provided one-to-one participation of the students. When the diaries written by the students are considered, their positive feelings and thoughts about the process can be seen. In line with the activities and opinions of the students, misconceptions were identified and some of them were eliminated. At the end of the research, it has been seen that students have improved in terms of academic success and scientific process skills depending on the activities applied in the process.
