Investigation of the relationship between depression, anxiety, stress and burnout in volunteers of non-governmental organizations working with risky groups

In this study, it was aimed to examine the depression, anxiety, stress and burnout levels of volunteers in non - governmental organizations working with risky groups in terms of various variables. A total of 69 volunteers from 87 participants, 37 female and 32 male volunteers, completed the instruments in the age range of 18-48 in non-governmental organizations working with risky groups in Diyarbakır province. Sociodemographic Information Form, Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS) and Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) were administered in the study. According to the results of the research, there was a positive correlation between depression, anxiety, stress and burnout in parallel with the literature. As the burnout levels of the participants increased depression levels (r = 0.659, p <0.001), anxiety levels (r = 0.616, p <0.001) and stress levels (r = 0.664, p <0.001) increased. As the depression levels of participants increased, anxiety levels = 0.811, p <0.001) and stress levels (r = 0.768, p <0.001) were increased. In terms of depression ( male=14.50, SDMale=9.28; Female=9.68, SDFemale=9.37), burnout ( male=36.22, SDMale=10.77; Female=29.14, SDFemale=12.81) and emotional exhaustion ( male=18.28, SDMale=6.89; Female=13.27, SDFemale=7.95) male participants scored significantly higher compared to female participants.
