Ibrāhīm al-Nakhaʻī and his transmission of hadīth

Since Ibrāhīm al-Nakhaʻī was an important scholar who lived in Kūfah in the first centruy of Hijra, he should be closely examined in terms of the history of hadīth narration in the first period. Although the studies on the history of hadīth provide a framework in general terms, as we go into detail, the picture becomes more differentiated and, many important details emerge as we go into detail. For this reason, the thesis aims to examine the position of Kūfah at that time, carried out specifically on al-Nakhaʻī, it was aimed to examine factors such as the position of Kūfah in that period, what al-Nakhaʻī meant in terms of hadīth science, teacher-studient relations, the isnad structures, and thus to shed light on a part of the hadīth history in the context al-Nakhaʻī. In the first part of the study, issues such of the position of Kūfah and al-Nakhaʻī in terms of the science of hadīth, the criticisms directed against al-Nakhaʻī and the evaluation of this criticisms were discussed and a general framework of the subject was tired to be revealed. In the second part, the relevant information about al-Nakhaʻī's teachers and students has been recorded, thus aiming to show al-Nakhaʻī's narration network in a clear way. In the third part, the words of narration in the senads of al-Nakhaʻī's narrations in the relevant sources were determined and the hadīth narration methods of that period were tried to be determined through these words. Through the data analysed in this chapters, it is aimed to further illuminate the position al-Nakhaʻī, one of the scholars of the tābiūn period, and thus to presedent a clearer view of the hadīth narration history of the relevant period and the region.
