vABSTRACTWİNDS AND PERCUSSİONS İN THE WORKS OF THE ROMANTİC PERİODCOMPOSERSAydın MECİDDepartment of MusicAfyon Kocatepe University, The Institute of Social SciencesJanuary 2005Advisor: Yrd.Doç.Dr. Yusuf MİRİŞLİExposing how the Romantic Period composers use wind and percussions in theirworks; in our research we aimed to help to the students who are going to be themusicians of the future, to guide and to inform the orchestra musicians and to prepare ascientific background not only for the new researches that are going to be done but alsofor the new works that will be composed.A model that aimed to determine the condition is used basically and data hadtaken by musical analysis, searching sources and collecting interviews and explained byusing descriptive methods.In this research, first of all the characteristics of the Romantic Period music, themusical ideas of the composers of this period, their lives and the problematic situationon exposing their works were determined. Afterwards it was put forward how thecomposers use wind and percussions in the romantic period, how was the progress ofthese instruments during this period; the reasons of using especially winds andpercussions for the solo compositions and finally the result and the suggestions thatcame out from this research.
