Abstract (EN)
In this postgraduate thesis, shoot growths on sessile oaks which are appeared in Saçinka (Artvin) deforestation area have been surveyed how they change with the variation of altitude. The oak forests which have been surveyed in this study were cutted down in 2011. These cutted trees were removed from the deforestation area. The survey areas were observed in terms of stump shoot growth and root shoot growth on the oak stumps from 2011 to 2013. By considering the altitude variation in the area, 3 experimentation areas were identified in the size of 10m x 70m at altitudes of 900m, 1050 m and 1200 m. The quantities and the heights of root and stump shoots were measured on the 45 oak stumps in total which were 15 oak stumps in each experimentation area. In each altitude grade 3 soil profiles and 9 soil profiles in total were excavated and it was observed that the depth of soil in relation to altitude, the quantity of organic substances in the soil, the alteration of pH form in soil, the differences in the rate of sand and dust in soil had been effective on shoot growths. According to the statistics data which have been obtained in the survey, it is stated that the quantities of root shoots, stump shoots and the heights of root shoots, stump shoots decrease when the altitude increases and there has been a positive effect when the diameter degrees increase in the oak forests
