Safvet Nezihi's work named Makâlât-i Nezihi (analysis-text)

Safvet Nezihi, one of the writers of the Ⅱ. Constitutional period, stepped into literature with the novel genre and produced works in many genres such as stories and articles. The author gained his popularity in his literary life from his novels. There are very few academic studies about Safvet Nezihi, who is especially getting famous with his novel Zavallı Necdet, against his popularity in his period. A large part of the works done until today is about the author's life and novels. Safvet Nezihi's works have been republished in recent years but still some of his works have not been translated into Latin letters. One of them is the work called Makâlât-ı Nezihi, which is the subject of my thesis. With this work, the work was transferred to Latin letters for the first time. Makâlât-ı Nezihi, consists of articles written by the author about women. In this work, Safvet Nezihi handles women as a whole with both their physical and emotional features. Along with this perspective, he also mentioned the place of women in society. Also the author, shaped his literary works based on the subject/problem of "women". Therefore, Makâlât-ı Nezihi is a book that will provide a better understanding of the author's world of thought and literary works. In our study, Makâlât-ı Nezihi is translated into Latin letters and the author's thoughts on women were categorized under the headings of "Health", "Education", "Family", "Women and Literature". Afterwards, the reflections of these thoughts on his novels and his play that named İzâh and İstizâh were examined.
