The relationship between ergonomics level, job and life satisfaction in healthcare workers

Aim: This study aimed to examine the relationship between ergonomics level, job and life satisfaction in healthcare workers. Material and Method: This cross-sectional, descriptive and correlational study was completed with 422 healthcare workers. As data collection tools in the research; sociodemographic, psychosocial and organizational information form, Ergonomics Scale, Minnesota Job Satisfaction Scale and Life Satisfaction Scale were used. The findings were obtained by performing parametric tests and linear regression analysis based on the significance value of p<0.05 in SPSS 25.0 program. Results: 48.1% of the health workers participating in the research are between the ages of 26-35, 64.2% are women, 41.2% are nurses, and 27.3% of them have 11-15 years of work. Ergonomics Scale mean score was 2.85±0.65; The mean scores of the Job Satisfaction Scale and its sub-dimensions; The mean General Job Satisfaction score was 2.83±0.76, the mean Internal Job Satisfaction score was 2.94±0.77, and the mean External Job Satisfaction score was 2.65±0.82, and the Life Satisfaction Scale mean score; It is 2.33±0.97. There is a positive, strong and statistically significant (r=0.621; p<0.01) relationship between the Ergonomics Scale mean score and the Job Satisfaction Scale mean score of healthcare professionals, and a positive, strong and statistically significant relationship between the Life Satisfaction Scale mean score (r= 0.552; p<0.01); There is a positive, strong and statistically significant relationship (r=0.552; p<0.01) between the Job Satisfaction Scale mean score and the Life Satisfaction Scale mean score. Conclusion: The ergonomics level of the healthcare professionals participating in the research is at a medium level; general job satisfaction, internal job satisfaction and external job satisfaction are low and life satisfaction is low. Ergonomic risk factors in the work environment of healthcare professionals should be controlled, and activities that increase their job satisfaction and related life satisfaction should be planned.
