Measuring healthcare workers' level of knowledge about infectious diseases and identifying cases of vaccine resistance in infectious diseases

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between healthcare professionals' knowledge levels about infectious diseases and their attitudes towards vaccination and to determine whether these variables differ according to demographic characteristics. The study was conducted using a quantitative research design, and the Infectious Diseases Perception Scale (CIDS) and Vaccination Opposition Scale (VOC) were used as data collection tools. The study was conducted with data obtained from 153 healthcare professionals working in different healthcare institutions. The research findings revealed that healthcare professionals' knowledge levels about infectious diseases were generally high, but their attitudes towards vaccination were at a moderate level in some sub-dimensions. The high total scores of the CIDS indicate that positive results were obtained especially in the "General and Preventive Perception" and "Perception Towards Transmission" sub-dimensions. On the other hand, moderate scores were obtained in the sub-dimensions of the SCA, such as "Vaccination Opposition" and "Legitimization of Vaccine Hesitancy", which revealed that there is not always a direct parallelism between the knowledge levels of healthcare professionals and their attitudes towards vaccination. According to Spearman correlation analysis, negative significant relationships were found between the SCA and SCA sub-dimensions, and it was determined that as the knowledge level increased, the tendency towards vaccination decreased. In conclusion, although the knowledge levels of healthcare professionals are high, attitudes towards vaccination vary depending on certain professional groups and demographic characteristics..
