Abstract (EN)

The history of studies in the field of health dates back to 1978. It started with the Almaata declaration in Kazakhstan in 1978 for the search for common solutions to health problems by meeting of International Health Organizations. The World Health Organization was established in 1948 in order to raise the standards of service in health. The prolongation of human life span in the century we live in requires the development of new approaches in the field of health, since chronic diseases are the most important cause of mortality and morbidity all over the world and in our country. For these studies in the field of health, it is necessary to allocate a share from the Country's budget for Health expenditures according to the standards of all countries. It is the correct and precise information that has been proven as a result of the researches made to date that the budgets allocated by the countries and the expenditures in the field of health will increase the healthy living standards and the average age of the population will increase. In this thesis, the effect of health expenditures on economic growth is investigated by making use of the researches and the results obtained and the statistical data of the organizations and institutions that have been created so far. Considering that the share of the pharmaceutical industry in the world is increasing day by day in economic indicators, it is an inevitable fact that the investments to be made in this sector with R&D incentives in order to reduce the import share of the developing countries will contribute to the production of biosimilar drugs and develop the country's economy. After the first three chapters in which the economic concepts and indicators related to health are examined, the fourth chapter is an empirical study in which inferences for the future expectations are made by investigating the share of expenditures allocated to the pharmaceutical sector, considering that Turkey is among the developing countries.
