Şanlıurfa Göbeklitepe urban archeological site and Örencik neighborhood archeaopic model project

Conservation culture and conservation awareness are among the most important factors in keeping the urban texture and cultural memory alive. The preservation of archaeological and architectural heritage sites is important both in terms of carrying many information such as the lifestyle, socio-cultural structure, economic, art and architecture of past civilizations to the present day and transferring the urban texture to future generations. Physical protection alone is not sufficient. For this reason, archaeoparks are needed in order to increase the awareness of the society, to protect the archaeological finds and to ensure their sustainability. Especially with the development of technology, social and cultural changes in the social structure caused the archaeological finds in the city to lose their functions. The re-functionalization of these archaeological sites can be considered as an alternative production process. Archaeological sites, which have architectural value, shed light from the past to the present, and contain human, social and environmental values, should be protected without damaging them. In particular, in order to keep the cultural urban memory alive, opening the historical textures to the society with various architectural arrangements and presenting the historical and scientific data in these archaeological sites using modern presentation techniques will increase the awareness of the society towards past civilizations. When conservation and research studies in archaeological sites all over the world are examined, it has become a great need to exhibit historical sites and increase social awareness. For this reason, it will turn into important places with the realization of architectural arrangements in archaeological areas in order to determine the way of transferring information and to transform researches into understandable data. Within the scope of the thesis; A research has been carried out on the concept of "archeopark", which is the modern way of transferring the historical knowledge that the archaeological heritage offers us architecturally, the foreign and domestic examples have been compared and the influencing factors have been discussed within historical and geographical variables. In the light of the information obtained through the literature review, the experimental archaeological site, which aims to convey the daily lives of the past civilizations, the architectural features of Şanlıurfa Göbeklitepe Urban Archaeological Site and Örencik Village and the reasons for being idle; tried to be conveyed in detail. The data obtained in this context were analyzed descriptively. With the findings obtained, it is aimed to contribute to the new archaeopark studies to be made by examining the use, preservation and transfer to future generations and its transformation with technological developments by making "Şanlıurfa Göbeklitepe Urban Archaeological Site and Örencik Mahallesi Archeopark Model Proposal".
