Examination of Sara Gürbüz Ozeren's legends in context of root values

Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to examine the book series Great Turkish Legends by Sara Gürbüz Özeren, one of the authors of Turkish literature, in terms of root values education. This research is a descriptive study and was conducted on the basis of document analysis method, qualitative research technique and descriptive scanning model. The materials of the study consist of ten works of Sara Gürbüz Özeren. These works were examined in terms of root values education, according to the general objectives of the Turkish National Education and the Ministry of National Education Root Values in the Primary and Secondary School Turkish Language Curriculum published in 2019. The values that are the subject of the examined works are the most love (51), respect (39), helpful (34), control (32), responsibility (28), honesty (18), patriotic (18), justice (17), friendship ( 14), self-patience (14), and its value. As a result of these findings, it has been concluded that Sara Gürbüz Özeren's book series named Great Turkish Legends is among the resources to be benefited from on values education. It has been determined that all of the ten root values are included in the works and that the values are implicitly conveyed to the reader. Sara Gürbüz Özeren's Great Turkish Legends books can be recommended to primary and secondary school students in terms of values education.
