Analysis of temporal changes in the Sarikamiş Forest Enterprise areas

In this study, temporal changes in forest areas has been carried out by means of using forest management planning data from 1999 and 2000 of Sarıkamış, Boyalı, Çamyazı, Hamamlı, Karakurt, Sarıkamış forest planning units under the Directorate of Sarıkamış Forest District.Developments in the planning process and the technological advances of recent years, the increasing ecological problems, ranging changes in human needs and the understanding of planning with the changes in forest areas between these two periods considered within the scope of the work has been carried out.Data on Forest Management Plan of 1999 related with five forest planning units on the scope of the study was transferred to GIS (Geographic Information System) with the using of ArcGIS program. The Forest Management Plan of 2010 was already prepared in digital format in GIS. In this way, spatial database related with these two periods in digital format was compared by supporting with data tables and graphics. In this study, evaluations about changes in the understanding of forestry planning and previous planning process in our country have been made.Assessments made within the scope of this study, will help questioning of the next planning process, and changes between these two periods in the context of interventions in the forest.Keywords: Temporal changes, Geographic Information System, Forest Management Plan, ArcGIS
