Abstract (EN)
Inadequate consumption of red meat per capita is one of the important problems due to the increasing population and difficult living conditions in the world. In a constantly developing world, adequate and balanced nutrition is important for human beings, and the amount of red meat consumed per capita is one of the criteria used to determine the development level of countries. In recent years, many studies on animal food production have been carried out and when these studies are analyzed statistically; It has been observed that our country has become stronger in the field of animal foods obtained from sheep and goats, especially after 2010. In order not to encounter this problem in the following time periods, this numerical increase should be reflected in consumption. In addition, it is important to know the genetic characteristics of native and cultural breeds in order to close this gap. If the genetic characteristics are known, the animals raised for milk or meat yield will be determined in the early period and the consumption gap will be closed by increasing the yield and quality of animal products. The main purpose of this study is to determine the genes that affect the yield and quality characteristics of animal products and to determine the mutations that cause genetic diversity, to explain the functions and structures of the genome and the interactions of genes with each other and with the environment. It is envisaged to contribute to the more successful implementation of selection programs by evaluating genes that affect metabolic processes in terms of their structure and functions at the molecular level. In this respect, it is aimed to determine the expression levels of the MSTN gene, which affects meat yield in Şavak Akkaraman sheep, one of our domestic sheep breeds, by Real-Time PCR method.
