Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, the design of a lightweight trailer chassis to carry an off-grid mobile solar energy system with predetermined design constraints is investigated. An extensive literature review was conducted in the fields of solar energy systems, trailer and chassis systems and finite element analysis. After the information obtained in the literature review and the conceptual design, different chassis designs were developed with Solidworks design program. The designs were analyzed by finite element analysis with ANSYS program and the effect of design changes on product strength was examined. In our thesis study where four different design variations were examined, the static rigidity of the trailer against the payload was examined with different design variations. The results were evaluated comparatively and the optimum chassis design that can carry the payload was determined.
