Effect of optional Science Applications Lesson on 7th grade students for Scientific Process skills in science and technology lesson, their manners, motivation

The purpose of the research is to designate the impact of Elective Science Applications courses on 7th grade students' scientific process skills, attitudes and motivation in their science and technology classes and to determine students' views on Elective Science Applications courses. The study was carried out with 212 seventh grade students with some of them who previously had Elective Science Applications courses and some of them who didn't during 2014-2015 academic year in Ağrı by using the joint survey research methods. In the quantitative section of the research, the data was collected by using the scientific process skills test, attitude and motivation tests which were applied to 107 students who had Elective Science Applications (ESA) courses and 105 students who didn't. In qualitative section whereas, the data was collected through semi-structured interviews with 15 students who had ESA courses. The SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Science ) 20.0 program was used for statistical analysis of quantitative data. The independent and dependent T-Tests were applied to the data and the result which was obtained was evaluated at 0.05 significance level. On the other hand, descriptive and content methods of analysis were used for qualitative data. The quantitative and qualitative data which was obtained from the survey shows that ESA courses improve students' scientific process skills , attitudes and motivation to the better.
