Urban morphology as a method in city planning: Görele

Local character, social structure, economic and environmental factors are the basis of urban planning practice, that affect the morphological structure of the cities. Thus, it is essential to understand and identify morphological structure and transformation process of the cities for future planning decisions. This can be actualized by incorporating morphological analysis and methods into urban planning process. In this study, it is aimed to explore how morphological analysis methods can be included as a control tool in urban planning process and planning practice. Accordingly, a morphological method, aimed to guide application plans is defined. In the first part of the study, main concepts of urban planning and urban morphology are discussed. In the remaining parts, urban planning and urban morphology studies, analysis methods related to urban morphology and morphological approaches, exploring the spatial structure of cities are examined. analysis of urban planning and urban morphology, analysis methods of urban morphology and morphological approaches studying the spatial structure of cities are examined. In line with the evaluations, a morphological analysis approach that can be included in the urban planning process and can be a guide for the assessment and evaluation of urban patterns is developed. The predefined analysis approach is then applied to the city of Görele. The dynamics, spatial stratification and the morphological structure of the city is analyzed systematically. Results and recommendations are presented in two main titles as the study area and the relation between urban planning and urban morphology.
