Abstract (EN)

Seljuks ruled over a wide geography for a long time. Seljuks Sultans and statesmen who cared about the welfare and happiness of the people as much as military successes and had a Social state understanding that protected anad looked after their people were closely interested in the needs of the people. Seljuk Sultans and statesmen who were also meticulous about the mental and physical health of their people had many hospitals medical Education and everyone is given the opportunity to be treated and regain their health, regardless of religion, language or race or poor. Seljuks tired to reintegrate them into society by treating the mentally ill people who were excluded by medieval Europe, tortured and burned. In some hospitals, a special section has been reserved for people with mental problems and various treatment methods such as good smell water and music, suggestion and theraphy have applied. In this study the concepts of mental incapacity, mental disorders, mental illnesses among the Seljuks are exemplified by examining the types of mental eclipses by considering the treatment methods iğn this context. It has been staded that mental eclipse is a momentary mental problem because it prevents healthy thinking. It has been tired to clarify the issue by revealing the perspectives of the important thinkers of the period on mental eclipse and mental illnesses. While examining the treatment methdos applied to the mantally ill by the physicians of the Seljuks, the approaches of the dervish lodges and zawiyas to the mentally ill we also examind.
