Abstract (EN)
In parallel with the increase in the population of the country, the need for wood raw material increases. Approximately 21 million m3 (2010-2018 average) of wood raw material is produced annually by the General Directorate of Forestry, which constitutes a large part of the income. This production is conveyed to consumption centers through primary-secondary transport works and forest depots. Although the vehicles used in both primary and secondary transportation have changed over time, the technical characteristics and layout of the roads are important in opening forest areas to operation. Therefore, it is necessary to determine the most suitable routes for both primary and secondary transport which can minimize the costs while trying to catch the most suitable opening rate. The purpose of this study is to determine the most suitable routes for forest products transfer by means of Geographic Information Systems within the scope of Bartın Forest Operation Directorate. ArcGIS and Access software were used to determine the most suitable route. With these software's, first the forest road network plan was digitized, and topological controls were performed. In the second stage, two different models for primary and secondary transport were created by means of Model Builder. Network analysis was also used in order to use the tools and assets differences as variables. A total of 4183, 79 km of roads (forest roads, village roads, highways, streets) were digitized for the study. 582 175 km of road network has been established for transportation planning. The developed model can clearly illustrate the alternatives of the roads to be used for primary transport. It was determined that the model created for secondary transport can determine the route where maximum benefit can be achieved when single vehicle is used. Since maximum benefit is taken into consideration, it is determined that in the secondary transport studies, the Network analysis prefers the routes where the vehicles are operating with little or no capacity.
