In terms of leisure time management, the need for recreational activities of retirees and the review of the recreational activities: Batman province sample

The aim of this study is to investigate the recreational activities and need for recreational activitiesthat retirees living in Batman are in need in terms of leisure time management. The study is designed in descriptive quality screening model and the population of the study is made up of retirees receiving their pensions and residing in Batman city centre; and research sample consists of 500 pensioners chosen via convenience sampling method by taking literacy into consideration with accessibility, willingness and ability to respond the survey. The data of the study is gathered with the scale of "Analysis of Retirees Recreational Activities". In the statistical analysis of the data, SPSS 22 Package Program was used; and in analyses, descriptive statistics techniques; and in comparison of two groups, t-Test; and in comparison of more than two groups,one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) were utilized. As a result of the study, it was seen that the retirees had the highest average in terms of benefit dimension that recreational activities provided in leisure time management; and that they had the lowest average in terms of frequently done recreational activities. It was concluded that the retirees were in high level expectation from the government in relation with recreational activities; and that they had opinions at positive levels in terms of participation conditions in recreational activities, their aims to participate in these activities, the reasons hindering their participation in these activities and in respect to benefits which these activities provided. According to the variables of the genders, education statues, monthly wages and the availability of the places where they evaluate their leisure time in Batman province, it was observed that the retirees' need for recreational activities and the levels of their participation in recreational activities changed significantly.
