Abstract (EN)
The question of the birth and rise of the Islamic State in Afghanistan cannot be completely answered without examining the role that the United States played during its two-decades-long intervention in Afghanistan. The US invasion gave way to many achievements and at the same time, the side effect of the war on terror caused the rise of terror groups especially the footprint of the Islamic State of Khorasan (IS-K) - a more radical group compared to the Taliban, Al Qaeda, and Haqqani groups. This research attempts to find the relation between the IS-K radicalization of Afghani nationals and the United States' failed nation-building mission. The study uses qualitative research methodology, and by gathering and analyzing secondary data, it unbiasedly evaluates the academic resources to analyze the failure of the United States and the side effects of the war on terror which led to the rise of IS-K and the probability of increasing threats.
